PUBLIC CONSULTATION

New Zealand National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security 2015 – 2019 Date: Tuesday 5 May 2015 Time: 0845am-1.00pm Venue: Grant Thornton , Level 15, 215 Lambton Quay, Wellington

Hosted by Women In International Security New Zealand and Massey University with the support of Amnesty International and Grant Thornton.

Are you interested in the impact of conflict on women? The importance of including women in peace talks and the role of women in peacekeeping missions? Would you like to know more about what the New Zealand Government is doing in these areas?

United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000) was the first resolution to focus exclusively on women in armed conflict and called on all UN member states to develop a National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security. On 5 May, 2015, Women In International Security New Zealand will host a public forum as part of the public consultation process on New Zealand’s draft National Action Plan. The forum will include speakers from the New Zealand Government, academia, and civil society. The public are cordially invited to attend and participate in the public forum.

The draft National Action Plan can be found at: http://www.mfat.govt.nz http://www.womenininternationalsecurity.wordpress.com.

Please send your written submissions on the NAP to WomenPeaceSecurity@mfat.govt.nz. Submissions close on Wednesday 20 May.
